Musical Scales - Application Overview
The best music scale software available.

Musical Scales - Vital for All Musicians!

There is no better way to learn scales. Musical Scales is designed to make it very simple for you to follow along as the software plays the scale with you. The staff scrolls smoothly so you can keep your eye on the notes being played.

note display

Easy, Simple Note Display

You can easily follow along as Musical scales "lights up" the note being played in the color blue. It automatically determines the best key in which to play the scale and marks the notes in the note display according to that key.

transpose

Transpose to Any Key

Simply select the key of your instrument, or the key you would like to transpose to and hit start. The scale will play the notes of the scale as it normally does but the note display and the notes on the staff will be transposed to the key you've selected. Whether you're a music writer, a professional, or a novice student, Musical Scales can help you.

volume knobs

Pump Up the Volume!

Control your PC's main volume and the synthesizer volume via two easy to use volume knobs. Just press the left mouse button down while the pointer is over the volume knob, then drag the mouse up or down to turn the volume up or down respectively. Piece of cake!

tempo
Play Your Octaves at Your Tempo

The tempo is adustable from 1 Beat-Per-Minute (Abbrev. BPM) which is one beat every 60 seconds, all the way up to 999 BPM which is 16.65 beats per second! So whatever your pace is Musical Scales can definitely keep up with you or slow down for you. You can easily adjust the tempo by pressing the left mouse button down and dragging the mouse upward or downward over the tempo readout or you can just click the up or down buttons next to it.

You can play scales in octaves starting below the bass clef if so desired. All you have to do is adjust the Octave setting to the lowest octave (the lowest setting is octave #2). You are also allowed the luxury of adjusting the octave 2 octaves above the treble clef. The octave setting is as easily adjustable as the tempo. It can be adjusted using mouse gestures or by using the buttons to the right of the Octave reading.

You are not limited to playing one octave at a time. You can easily adjust the Range to play as many octaves as can be played. For instance, if you were playing the C Major scale, you can simply adjust the Octave to #2 and the range to 6 and Musical Scales will play six octaves starting with the C below the bass clef.

As you play your scale the Beat and Measure display will increment just as if a conductor were conducting for you! Cool!
