Some of them are Major Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian, Bebop, Major, Harmonic, Dorian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Locrian, Pentatonic. If you aren't familar with them, just listen to them and you'll eventually know the difference. Yes, you can use Musical Scales to train your ear. To Play all of the scales just select all of the scales in the list and press start. Musical Scales will then play all of the scales in order. Sweet!
You can also select multiple root notes and Musical Scales will play all of them in order. For instance you can play all the Major scales by selecting the Major scale type and selecting all the root notes.
The many different rhythms in Musical Scales really help you get familiar with the key. Whether you're just listening because you're thinking about writing in that key or if you're playing in that key, Musical Scales helps significantly. The ascending & descending scale is the most common and hence listed first, but playing the scale in thirds helps you become much more familiar with the notes in the key. There are random rhythms that also help you become familiar with the different intervals in a scale. If you listen to a random scale over and over (repeat), you'll eventually experience every interval in that scale. See why Musical Scales is so vital for all musicians?
