Tips and Tricks
- The Octave Control
The octave control tells Musical Scales what octave to start the scale on.
- The Range Control
The range control tells Musical Scales how many octaves it is allowed to play.
- Resizing the Music or Keyboard window sections
Hold the mouse between the window sections and a blue line will light up. Drag this line up or down to resize the sections above and below the line.
- Transpose Settings
The default transpose settings is C which means Musical Scales will display music for a C instrument. If your instrument is not a C instument, adjust the transpose setting to the key of your instrument.
- Playing more than one scale in sequence
Select multiple scales, root-notes, and rhythms then press start. Musical Scales will then play all of your selected configurations in sequence.
- Check-box Settings
- Repeat
Tells Musical Scales to keep playing the selected scales.
- Use C Key
Tells Musical Scales to display the key signature in the key of C. When this check box is not checked Musical Scales tries to find the best key signature that fits the scale.
- Base Clef
Tells Musical Scales to display the notes in the Bass Clef. Notes are displayed in the Treble Clef when this check box is not checked.
- Metronome
Tells Musical Scales to play 4 notes before each scale to prepare you for the tempo. This is useful if you are playing along or singing along with the scale.
- Add Delay
Tells Musical Scales to delay starting the scale for 4 beats. This is useful when you want to play along with an instrument. It will take a few seconds to prepare your hands to play after you press the start button, so if you check the Add Delay check box, Musical Scales will give you a few beat counts so you can get ready to play. Unchecking Add Delay will also cause the Metronome check box to be unchecked.
